The latest fragrance in the legendary Chanel N°5 line is scheduled for the fall of 2016. Chanel N°5 L’Eau is the flanker that aims to capture the younger, millennial audience. The scent was developed by Olivier Polge as a light and fresh interpretation of the sophisticated original, featuring prominent note of May rose from Grasse. Olivier Polge has apparently been working on this composition since 2013. Top notes: lemon, mandarin, orange, neroli and aldehydes. Heart: rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine. Base: cedar, white musk.  

Chance Eau Splendide marks the inaugural fragrance under the leadership of Simona Cattaneo, president of Chanel Fragrance and Beauty. “I feel very honored and privileged to have joined such an iconic house that I have been looking at with a lot of respect for all of my career,” expressed Cattaneo, speaking in her first interview since joining Chanel in September 2024. COMPOSITION For CHANCE EAU SPLENDIDE, Olivier Polge, CHANEL In-House Perfumer-Creator, crafted a radiant and magnetic scent. A vibrant, sparkling raspberry accord, enriched with crisp fruity nuances, delicate rose, and violet facets, gracefully rises, unveiling an opulent and luminous floral heart centered around rose geranium. This exquisite geranium, cultivated exclusively in CHANEL's fields in Grasse, is naturally imbued with rosy freshness and subtle minty undertones. Complemented by sophisticated, powdery iris and enveloped by a mysterious cedar-white musk accord, the fragrance creates an alluring, fruity-floral whirlwind that is both elegant and mesmerizing. Each fragrance in the Chance line is characterized by freshness and a distinctive olfactory signature. For Eau Splendide, perfumer Olivier Polge focused on an exploration of various fruity notes. “I ended up being interested in one accord that smells like raspberry,” Polge explained. “I showcased it in an accord because aside from the red fruit and this peach aspect it naturally carries, it sets itself apart from other berries due to its inherent violet and rosy nuances. I thought: ‘Ah, that’s the start of the perfume.’” The composition further highlights a pure extract of geranium rosat leaf, partially cultivated in Chanel’s own fields. “It has this rosy, very natural impression,” noted Polge, who also infused musks and cedarwood into the fragrance’s base, creating a refined and lasting trail.
